SLB draft proposal clarifications to be soughtDraft proposal presented by SLB describes instrumentation, workflows etc. Following points may be noted and clarification to be sought- 1. Document mentioned the wireless transmitters of long distance range 3km line of sight, while LPN wells are more than 8kms distant from gathering station. even LPN field manifold is also approx 7-8 km. 2. proposal document talks about installing 5 metering instruments at wells sites for THP, CHP, ABP, FLT and lift gas flow measurement. It may be noted that GOR measurement/estimation for individual well is very important for Gas Lift optimization purpose, which requires a 2/3 phase flow meter in individual well flow lines, but draft proposal does not mention it. Clarification may be sought regarding this. 3. Can control elements also be included in the system (initially or even at a later stage) so as to make it more useful in many ways- for gas lift wells: Diaphragm valve opening controlled based on timer as well as required annulus pressure buildup(measured by PT) Cloud based gas lift network, as well as optimizing flow line availability. for self flow wells: surface safety valves may be installed, |
Interction with SMBSMB shared preliminary draft concept for implementation and sought comment. The word file containing basic setup to cover 29 wells eloborting instrmumentaton, workflow, methodology.
The document ws scanned and sent back with querries expecting discusion on queries next day.

Interaction with SMB (23rd June 2021...Telephone)Following discussed with Mr. Raj : 1. Response from ONGC 2. Way forward a. Well candidate selection ( Mix of GL and SF) b. Scoping phase wise/all at once ( may be 2 cluster to begin with - LPEK, MH4 and LP16 clusters were proposed) c. Security responsibility d. Modus oprandi

Insights into gains from digital enviromentCommon golals are: 1. Flow assurance 2. Production optimization 3. Predictive intervention 4. HSE advantages 5. Embracing technology and bring future ready
Besides, typical additional gains are: 1. Can prepare for upcoming large volume slug.. a major pain for procss opertions at GGS. 2. Predict the water cut behaviour vis a vis independent process variables say intermittant gs lift cycle time. 3. Augmenting focus of production engineer to higher quaity of work

Interction with SMB (21st June)Discussion with Mr. Raj of SMB(Mobile) Following brought out 1. Responsiblity matrix was discssed- security and maintenace. Internal discussion at SMB being done to resolve issue. 2. Querry replies pending from ONGC. ONGC assured to share in 1-2 days. 3. SMB-The visible value can be driven only when entire Laipling field is taken for study 4. Gas lift optimzaion, well performance monitoring and reduction in field visits are value proposition 5. Good payback perod is expected subject to mitigation of constraints.
ONGC - Mr. Ashish Shukla EE(P) would be assisting the project. |
Digitization: the only way ahead for the remotely located fields like LPNThe pilot project being taken up by Ms Schlumberger is a beautiful opportunity and the one which was being sought after by us since long. The lack of real time data availability has always taken a toll on our methods of production optimization, and we could only apply reactive measures instead of being able to take proactive measures. Mere real time data monitoring of the remotely located fields like LPN and KGN can result in production enhancement by 10% in artificial lift wells ( has been tried and tested in Lakhmoni field ) as well as judicial and optimized gas lift network consumption. Digitization is going to be the only way ahead for staying afloat in the competitive and dynamic global/domestic atmosphere. So it is the demand of time that we try to exploit technology in our surface facilities to make our monitoring and response mechanism more prompt and prudent. Big Data, IoT can be brought to our gas lift network system. Apart form this the real time data based approach can improve the recovery from the reservoirs. So onus is on us as an organization to get involved and leverage the opportunity as well as finding/exploring the way ahead in technology implementation before we miss the global digitization track. Through this blog we'll be able to track where we are in our efforts. |
